The U.S. Fund for UNICEF hosted an exclusive evening discussion and fundraising dinner with Dr. Rownak Khan, UNICEF Senior Health Specialist on Friday, December 7, 2012 in San Francisco, CA. The event was hosted by Pascal Rigo, Founder and Baker of La Boulange Bakery. Linda Naugle, the Director of the Northwest Region for the U. S. Fund for UNICEF, asked Kari Hayden, Caroline Barlerin, and Julie Hamwood to serve as event hosts.
The event focused on a dialogue with Dr. Khan, as she explored the UNICEF Eliminate campaign, tackling maternal/neonatal tetanus (MNT) and other immunization issues. Dr. Khan outlined UNICEF’s efficient and cost-effective methods, as well as what still needs to be done to help the 130 million women, and their future newborns, still at risk.
The event was a wonderful success. Dinner was provided by La Boulange Bakery. The money raised was $35,000, this includes the generous La Boulange match. The donation results were above the original aim, new relationships were formed, and the mission UNICEF was shared.
Kari was thrilled to take part in the event and is pleased to share some of photos from the evening.
